Qualifications

Education: (Desired, but not required) Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study. Certifications (Desired, but not required): MCSE (NT, 2000, 2003) CCNA/CCNP CISSP

Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Description of Work

Security Engineer with 3+ years of network/system security experience. Large enterprise experience is a plus. Experience/knowledge should specifically include: • Network Security Vulnerability Assessments • Vulnerability remediation practices • Understanding of Windows 2000 and 2003 operating systems • Understanding of Active Directory, DNS • Operating System Security lockdown practices • Identification of Security process improvement opportunities • Patch management practices and procedures • Working knowledge of the OSI model • General knowledge of other operating systems such as UNIX, Solaris • General knowledge of Routing and Switching protocols • Good verbal and written communication skills and personal interaction skills • The ability to work as part of a team Specific Duties and Responsibilities Performed: Security Engineer responsible for providing direct Network Security operations support for USAID's IT infrastructure. This infrastructure supports over 2,500 USAID users in Washington DC., and over 6,000 users overseas, as well as over 60 applications. Participates directly in all aspects of Security Engineering, including patch management and vulnerability assessments and remediation.
